Requirements
In order to set up an online auction site with Auction Scripts, you will need a few basic things:

A place to host your site.
This could be your own web server or a web host somewhere. The web server must support CGI scripts.

•

Perl 5 or above.
Most ISPs and web hosts already have Perl installed. Be sure your ISP or web host supports Perl CGI scripts before signing up. If you are using your own server, you can download Perl from www.perl.com. Perl is available for most platforms from Linux to Macintosh to Windows.

•

Hard disk space.
To get started, 10 MB of space is more than enough. More space may be necessary as your auction site becomes popular.

•

Basic HTML and Perl skills.
A standard installation typically only takes 10-15 minutes. Although the software is fully functional out of the box, you will probably want to modify the script to match the rest of your site. You should probably set aside some time with the script if you want your site to look original.
